Vienna Premiere
Without Words

With: Gardi Hutter
Idea: Gardi Hutter and Michael Vogel | Director: Michael Vogel (Flöz family)

The Tailor’s table is where tales are told and the fabric of life is measured out. A view through the buttonhole exposes her life: there are yards of yarns to be woven. Gardi Hutter plays at life with big scissors, and as always, she cuts away at things both big and small, tackling anything and everything in her way. She brings her dressmaker’s dummies to life in a wild dance macabre, diving into the abyss of her sewing box where, with so many spools, even destiny can lose its thread...

With THE TAILOR, Gardi Hutter and Michael Vogel (Flöz family) create a play about the finiteness of being and infiniteness of the game. Outside of time.

Gardi Hutter
is a Swiss actress and author, who has developed an international reputation as a clown primarily outside the circus ring and is now considered a female role model in clown theater around the world. She also writes children’s books and has performed in several films and musicals.
Hutter has been touring internationally with her own plays since the 1980s and has performed her 3 solo productions over 2,700 times in 22 countries: from Russia to Poland, from Sweden to Hungary, from the United States to Brazil...
In 1991 she was the first woman and clown to perform in the National Council chamber of the Swiss Parliament at the 700 Year Celebration of the foundation of Switzerland. She played the court jester. The performance attracted international attention.
Gardi Hutter has received 12 art awards and distinctions. There is a book about her – GARDI HUTTER - die CLOWNerin, as well as a documentary film by Kuno Bont (Gardi – Die Unendlichkeit des Spiels), and recently she also became available as a puzzle.
