„ANNA, The Substitute“

World Premiere
In English

From and with: Tanja Simma as Anna de Lirium
Director: Jango Edwards | Voice Overs: Jango Edwards, Mila von Chobiak | Special Appearance: Jango Edwards

ANNA THE SUBSTITUTE is an epic tale of one woman’s crusade in search of happiness hidden in a world of gloom.

An adventure filled with action, suspense, romance, and tragedy. This is a true story; only the names and places have been changed to protect the innocent.
It goes without saying that the Professional Substitute is a career choice, demanding years of on-the-job training. Only when one is flexible, talented, conversant, confident, diplomatic, and on call, available 24/7 for their employer, will the art of substitution be achieved.

Anna was none of these things …
Anna is none of these things …
But she tries to be these things…
Managing to be either in the wrong place at the right time or in the right place at the wrong time…

Tanja Simma
was educated at the Hochschule für Musik und darstellende Kunst in Vienna and the Ecole de Mime in France. Tanja was the first female Austrian artist to participate in Cirque du Soleil. She also played in the first production of Palazzo in Vienna as the Comedykellnerin.
She is the engine behind the Comicompany, co-founder of the first clown theater in Vienna – Theater Olé, and one of the pillars in the team of Red Noses Clowndoctors. Besides that, she was also one of the first female clowns in Austria and is celebrating 25 years on stage this year.
In short – Tanja Simma is a pioneer in clowning!
clownin presents the world premiere of Anna the Substitute, directed by Jango Edwards, who is credited with the line: “Women are the best clowns in the world”
