Discourse

Women in the conflicting fields of "art - humour - poverty"
Lectures and panel discussion

Monday, December 1st (6.30 p.m.)
At KosmosTheater

How poor must one be to lose their sense of humour?
How precarious do the circumstances have to be to lose the ability to laugh?
Is humour a question of money?
Is it possible to make good art, if one is poor?
Or is it only possible to make good art, if one is poor?
If poverty is female, why is art so male dominated?

Introductory presentations Yaara Perah (Israel), Geni Viegas (Brazil) and Barbara Kraus (Austria)
followed by a panel discussion

Moderation: Michaela Moser

Translation is provided. Free entry!

“GUNS & NOSES”

Clowns at war

Austrian premiere

Photo: Yaakov Saban

Acting: Yaara Perah, Anat Bernstein, Micaela Miranda, Maayan Winstok
Directed by: Yaara Perah, Anat Bernstein

In english

„Guns and Noses. Clowns at War“ – a wild and bittersweet show about the vanities of war, peace, and all the rest.
Three clowns are recruited to the army in its battle against the ”vicious enemy“. Ready or not, they must go to war.
Each clown in his own way tries his best to be a part of the military system though never to the contentment of the commander. Through surprising and comical situations, the clowns find themselves face to face with the enemy on the battlefield.
But from the blasts of the battle a different world appears - a world of naïve mystery and dreams, a world that exists underneath and reveals itself to us at the most surprising times…
In the battlefield such notions as “soldier” and “enemy” are blurred and receive a new and different meaning. We watch this absurd and chaotic reality with humour, wonder, and amazement that are unique to the clown’s world and open a window to the world of the universal soldier, beyond boundaries of realistic time and place, s/he finds him/herself in the timeless situation of war and through him/her, funny, bittersweet stories come to life.

Igrarama
is an Israeli theatre group, established by Lecoq graduates in December 2006. Working independently, the goal is to promote physical theatre in Israel and to create an exchange between Israeli artists and artists abroad, creating a dialogue between cultures, ideas, and values.
The first show “Guns and Noses” premiered at the Israeli Fringe Festival, September 2007 and was invited to play in Hasimta theatre in Tel Aviv. They also performed in Jerusalem and other cities throughout Israel.
This is the first performance of this show outside of Israel.
